GermanyDestinations in Germany
Germany, with a current population of 82.4 million people, once a world heavyweight in the Age of Empires and having made headlines through most of the 20th century, is now seeking its own identity in the 21st.
Already imbued with such a long history and strong culture, it’s only a matter of time until Germany fully comes into its own as a leading industrialized nation.
The most popular destination in Germany is its capital, Berlin, a sprawling set of Soviet and Western influences emerging into a fully modern world city today. It has a huge art culture as well as several historical and contemporary artifacts. Its troubled history is written in the very stones of its buildings, fascinating reminders of the past and inspirations for a more promising future.
Rivaling Berlin is Munich, Germany’s “second city.” It boasts a wealth of attractions for tourists, from its English Garden where one can sunbathe nude and guzzle beer to its vast array of museums, galleries, and several castles of the royal family.
If you’re looking to get out of the city, there’s no better place to go than the Rhine Valley. Fertile vineyards coat dramatic hills, dotted with castles and wine villages full of festivities. Drink to the beauty of this region.
