Montana

Catch a breath of fresh air with a vacation under the big sky of Montana. This wide-open state is a haven for outdoor lovers, while cities like Billings, Missoula, and Helena can still offer culture and nightlife.

Montana is perhaps lesser known as a ski destination than Colorado or Wyoming. Use that to your advantage—with nearly 550 ski runs spanning 14,000 acres, skiers and snowboarders will spend less time in line and more time on the ski slopes.

There’s even more room for the cross-country skiing enthusiast, with literally millions of acres of public land available for skiing. Try a visit to Glacier National Park or the northwest corner of Yellowstone National Park to start your cross-country skiing adventure. Another popular winter activity is snowmobiling. Montana has thousands of miles of snowmobile track, spanning 24 trails across the western half of the state.

Lewis and Clark trekked through Montana on their great expedition, and the state has been is a hiker’s paradise ever since. Ten national forests and over 16 million acres of public land guarantee that you’ll never run out of things to explore. Wildlife and bird watching, hunting, fishing, and cycling are just a few of Montana’s warm-weather activities.
