Over 14 million people flock to the twin cities of Niagara Falls, Ontario and its American sister, Niagara Falls, New York, to see the famous natural beauty that is its waterfalls, voluminous, powerful moving currents that are not only awe-inspiring to see, but also provide valuable hydroelectric power and tourist revenue to the area.

On the Canadian side, you can see Horseshoe Falls, or what is now more commonly referred to as the Canadian Falls, 177 feet high with a crest of 2,200 feet and a water flow of more than 168,000 cubic meters per second.

At night, floodlights illuminate the basin and the view is truly magnificent to behold. Get the best view at Queen Victoria Park to see both the Canadian and American Falls or traverse its underground observation walkways. You’ll feel like you’re within the falling waters themselves!

Or, for the highest aerial view, go up to the observation deck of the nearby Skylon Tower. Look the other way and you can see as far as Toronto on a clear day and if you’re feeling hungry, grab a bite to eat at its restaurant, the Pinnacle. Niagara Falls’ other tower, the Konica Minolta Tower, even offers a chapel to perform wedding services in front of the panoramic view.

If you’re feeling daring, take a cruise on the Maid of the Mist cruise lines, daily boat outings that take passengers into the whirlpools beneath the Falls. You can also see the Falls by cable car, which will take you directly below the Falls where you’ll be able to see that majestic power up close and personal.

Of course, there’s definitely more to Niagara Falls than seeing a lot of water.
