Seward

One-hundred and twenty-six miles out of Anchorage lies Seward, a small, sprawling seaside town around Resurrection Bay on the Kenai Peninsula. It was named for William H. Seward who fought for the U.S. purchase of Alaska in 1867 and is often known as the gateway to Kenai Fjords National Park.

The bustling harbor and downtown district of the town is filled with charming little shops, art galleries, and restaurants. From there, you can explore the many water sport activities available such as trophy sport fishing, glacier and wildlife cruises, sailing, hiking, kayaking, flightseeing, and summer dog sled rides. In the winter, you can cross country ski and snow machine.

Forming a backdrop to the town is Mount Marathon, stretching 3,022 feet into the sky. Every year, the town holds a race in which participants climb and descend the mountain for a total of three miles of steep cliffs, waterfalls, and a panoramic view.

Spring, summer, fall, and winter, Seward is an exciting outdoor playground for nature enthusiasts, with some of the most beautiful and wild lands in the entire world.
