VermontTake one step into beautiful Vermont and you’ll understand why it’s known as the Green Mountain State. From Brattleboro and Manchester in the south to Montpelier, Burlington, and Stowe in the north, Vermont is a small state with a lot to offer.
The biggest attractions in Vermont are its excellent ski slopes and ski resorts. Killington, Mt. Snow, Ascutney, Sugarbush, Jay Peak, Smugglers’ Notch…the list of Vermont ski destinations is seemingly endless. Vermont truly has some of the best skiing in the country—if Aspen isn’t on your itinerary, the Green Mountains of Vermont should be. You can also enjoy numerous other winter sports in Vermont, such as ice skating, snowboarding, snow tubing, and more.
But Vermont prides itself on being a four-season destination. In the spring and summer, the ski slopes become beautiful hiking trails. In the fall, travelers flock to New England and especially Vermont for “leaf season,” when the trees change colors in a magical display of nature. Open seasonally in spring and summer is the Shelburne Museum in Shelburne, which features art from the 18th century to the present day.
There’s also great food to be had in Vermont. No trip to the state would be complete without a visit to a sugarhouse, where real maple syrup is produced; March is typically the beginning of the season. Visit the city of Cabot for a tour of and samples from Cabot Creamery, home to the world’s best cheddar cheese. The Magic Hat Brewing Company in South Burlington offers some "wicked" and unique New England ales, for when the over-21s in your traveling party want to sample something stronger than the maple syrup.
